The concepts of economic and ecological driving are not identical, but by driving economically at the same time we reduce exhaust emissions into the atmosphere. It is really worth thinking about changing the driving style. Especially since this change is very simple. “Foot off the gas” by 20 km / h or even by 10 km / h brings many measurable benefits, both for our wallet and for nature.
For example, driving back and forth 300 km of our section of motorway at a speed of 140 km / h, in the case of a medium-sized passenger car, up to 67 kg of CO2! To neutralize such carbon dioxide emissions, it would take an annual work of 4 trees. Meanwhile, neither on a local scale nor on a global scale, there is such a number of trees that would neutralize the huge mass of exhaust gases from the ever-growing number of vehicles.
ECO calculator, calculating our exhaust emissions, confronts us with the scale of pollutants produced. Although travel is an inseparable part of everyday life, and the motorway is the safest place to carry it out, the state of our climate is our common responsibility. That’s why it’s worth learning and using every available way to reduce CO2 emissions.
The ECO calculator allows you to analyze both important issues in a transparent way: ecological and economic. “Foot off the gas” reduces the production of exhaust gases and at the same time significantly reduces fuel expenses. By reducing the speed from 140 km/h to 120 km/h, we reduce CO2 emissions by as much as 8%. Such a change, contrary to appearances, slightly extends the travel time, but significantly increases its safety – slower driving brings many measurable benefits.
Eco-driving is a new way of thinking, related not only to the ability to anticipate and plan while driving, but to a new sense of co-responsibility for the state of our planet. This trend arose from the need to stop climate change and is in line with EU directives on the reduction of pollutant emissions into the environment. Ecodriving has been a mandatory element in Poland since 2015 during the driving test.
New episodes of our moral comedy series, Hold On Grownups! we dedicate to drivers traveling on motorways and express roads around the world, wishing: stick to the principles of eco-driving.
